ŠKODA has launched the Fabia 130, a special edition based on the current Fabia Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI. This special production car brings more power, a lowered chassis, more precise handling and design elements that pay homage to ŠKODA’s rich and successful motorsport heritage.
The Fabia 130 is also the fastest series-produced Fabia to date with a top speed of 228 km/h. The model combines performance and style for driving enthusiasts, while celebrating the 130th anniversary of Škoda Auto.
More power and better performance
Under the bonnet is the familiar 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which has been reworked for the occasion with a new intake manifold and other components to cope with the 26bhp increase in power over the standard version. The engine has been tuned to deliver more power across the rev range, with a full 174bhp available between 5750 and 6000rpm. Peak torque remains unchanged at 250Nm, and is sent to the front wheels between 1500 and 4000rpm.
Faster gearshift and acceleration
Along with the extra power, the Fabia 130 also gets a custom software map for the dual-clutch automatic transmission, which now holds gears longer and allows the engine to reach higher revs. In the “Sport” driving mode, the transmission shifts down more quickly. Thanks to these changes, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.4 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds faster than the standard Fabia with the same engine.
This puts it almost on par with the previous second-generation Fabia vRS, which completed the sprint in 7.3 seconds. However, the new Fabia 130 surpasses the old vRS model in terms of top speed, which is 228 km/h.
Sports suspension and distinctive design
For better driving characteristics, the sports suspension taken from the Monte Carlo model is responsible, which lowers the car by 15 mm compared to the standard version. The electric power steering has been further tuned to provide the driver with more feedback from the road. The interior features electrically adjustable sports seats and stainless steel pedals. On the outside, the Fabia 130 is recognizable by a special front spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust pipes and “130” graphics that mark the great anniversary of the Czech manufacturer.
