The Maserati MCXtrema is worth over a million euros. This is the brand’s craziest model ever

The MASERATI MCXtrema represents the pinnacle of Italian engineering, a super-exclusive car designed exclusively for the racetrack. Although it draws its basis from the MC20 road-going supercar, the MCXtrema has been transformed into a purebred racing beast whose price reaches an incredible 1,075,000 euros.

The heart of a racing car

Under the hood is a reworked version of the Nettuno V6 engine, now producing an impressive 730 horsepower. The interior is completely stripped of all unnecessary elements, with carbon fiber dominating the construction to keep weight to a minimum. In addition, the car comes with a custom racing suspension and integrated air springs, just like a real race car.

A collector’s item without competition

Interestingly, there is no official racing series for this extraordinary car, making it a unique collector’s item that costs thousands of pounds to maintain. Only 62 were produced, and most of them will probably never see the asphalt of a race track, but will spend their lives in the garages of the wealthiest collectors.

A unique opportunity for testing

However, one of these rare examples has been given the chance to show what it was made for. Thanks to an extremely generous owner, an Autocar journalist was given the exclusive opportunity to test drive the MCXtrema on track during an event organised by the charity Mission Motorsport.

You can see what it was like to drive a car that is, in everything but name, a true GT3 racing car in the attached video.
