Teenager used a card trick and got “free” gas for six months

AUTHORITIES found him after an extensive investigation.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing $42,000 worth of fuel from a local gas station in Lincoln Areas. According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office, the resourceful offender used a credit card to pay for the fuel in an unknown manner, but it was never charged.

To make matters more interesting, investigators still don’t know how he managed to pump gas for five months without paying the bill. Andrew Gerardo Escobedo filled his GMC Yukon and plastic containers at the same gas station for five months. He pumped an average of $2,000, and at one point, he came up to twice a week.

After a discrepancy was noticed between the amount of fuel delivered and the bills charged, an investigation was launched. Security camera footage soon showed that the discrepancy between billing and delivery always occurred when the same vehicle was at the filling station.

In other words, if Escobedo had not been so greedy, and if he had also been filling up other locations, he would certainly have been harder to catch, if he had ever been caught. At the time of his arrest, his GMC Yukon was found with numerous tanks in the cabin, some of which were filled with gasoline. Not surprisingly, he ended up in prison and is facing a multi-year prison sentence.
