The all-electric Mercedes EQS, conceived as an electric equivalent of the iconic S-Class, has not achieved the sales success it was expected to, largely due to its extremely high price as a new vehicle. However, this very fact opens up an incredible opportunity in the used car market, where almost new models with low mileage can be found for a fraction of the original price.
Drastic drop in value
Since the start of sales of this electric series, almost 8,500 examples of this luxury sedan have been registered in Germany. Auto Bild, Germany’s most widely circulated automotive magazine, writes that there are currently more than 180 EQS models on the used vehicle market, and many of them have experienced an almost unimaginable loss of value. This provides buyers with a unique opportunity to get a top-of-the-line electric car at significantly lower prices, even when it comes to models with very low mileage.
Wide range of power and range
Over the past four years, Mercedes-Benz has been constantly improving the EQS drivetrain, offering it in numerous variants. Power ranges from the entry-level EQS 350 model with 215 kW and rear-wheel drive, all the way to the top-of-the-line AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ Dynamic Plus with an impressive 560 kW. Depending on the version, the maximum range with a single charge of the battery varies between 529 and 821 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, while the interior is decorated with large and minimalistic designed surfaces.
Savings of more than 70,000 euros on a nearly new car
Buyers with a more rational attitude should pay attention to the entry-level EQS 350 model, which, incidentally, is no longer on offer if you’re looking at buying the Stuttgart brand’s electric flagship.
One such example, which is being sold in Germany, clearly demonstrates what kind of opportunity it is. It is a black electric model from the first owner, registered in March 2023, which has covered only 4,825 kilometers to date and looks like it just left the showroom.
As you would expect from a Mercedes with the “S” badge, the equipment is extremely rich. This used car comes with an AMG styling package, air-conditioned seats front and rear, a panoramic roof, air suspension and the advanced MBUX infotainment system. But the most impressive bit is the price. When new, this EQS 350 cost 129,906 euros.
After only 4,825 kilometers, its price has dropped to 58,740 euros, which represents a saving of an incredible 71,166 euros. Perhaps this is a good opportunity for our customers as well, since importing such vehicles is quite profitable.
